Saint Catherine Center Uses Creative Arts for Those with Disabilities

As the director of global sourcing and marketing at International Marketing Systems, Ltd., in Shelton, Connecticut, Nathalie Stonier continues nearly two decades of leadership in areas ranging from business development to international supply chain management. Personally committed to philanthropic efforts, Nathalie Stonier supports groups such as the Saint Catherine Center for Special Needs.

Founded to serve those with disabilities, the Saint Catherine Center addresses the educational, social, and spiritual needs of its clients through its Adult Day Program, Saint Catherine Academy, and programs in Catholic schools and parishes. Through all of its programs, the center places great importance on the role of the creative arts.

For example, the Saint Catherine Center offers young adults with disabilities the opportunity to participate in weekly sessions of art, music, and movement through yoga. Participants have the opportunity to express themselves in each of these modes, discovering ways to communicate their emotions and personal experiences that transcend the use of words, which is especially important for non-verbal clients.
